Pets in Pregnancy

Pets in Pregnancy

Many of my patients, and myself included, know the profound impact pets have on enriching our lives. They’re so often part of the family – cuddly, walking stressbusters you can share with (and talk to!). That’s why they can sprinkle a bit of magic on the journey toward motherhood.

Having a pet by your side during pregnancy is about more than just affection; they offer comfort, joy, and unconditional emotional support. I can personally vouch for the joy and comfort a pooch can bring into your life.

However – while snuggling up with your pet is lovely, let’s not forget how important it is to balance this companionship with safety. Keeping up with regular vet visits for your pet ensures everyone stays healthy, especially when your immune system is playing the pregnancy tune.

And for those litterbox, and other duties, perhaps delegate to a partner or friend – just to minimise risk and keep you and your baby as safe as possible.

So, be safe, and love those moments with your pets, they add a special dimension to the excitement of motherhood and your growing family.

With warmth and care, as always,
Dr Peeva
