Fetal Medicine

Ultrasound examinations during pregnancy are safe for you and your baby and currently there is no evidence that having multiple scans cause any lasting harm to the developing baby.

During the course of my career I have gained deep level of expertise in pregnancy ultrasound. Following a comprehensive fellowship at King’s College Hospital I have been accredited with the Fetal Medicine Diploma by Professor Nicolaides and The Fetal Medicine Foundation.

All pregnancy scans are performed personally by me at the Women‘s Wellness Centre in Chelsea.

Each scan performed by me includes an assessment of the fetal anatomy specific to the gestation, fetal growth, fetal presentation, placental position, amniotic fluid and fetal Dopplers after 20 weeks. A 3D image of your baby is included in every scan, however sometimes this might not be possible due to the position of your baby.

The following scans are recommended as a minimum during your pregnancy:

  • Nuchal scan 11-13 weeks
  • Anomaly scan20-22 weeks
  • Growth scan at 36 weeks

Please be aware that ultrasound alone can not exclude rare genetic conditions or all physical or mental abnormalities.
